A much-discussed rumor claiming that Windows 10 Live Tiles would be dead in future has been shot down by Microsoft employees in a Windows Insider Podcast. As per the official information shared in this Podcast, Live Tiles will exist in future but will become an optional feature for apps.

The Windows 10 Start Menu however will emphasize icons in the place of Live Tiles. Microsoft also shared their idea of how the start screen will look in future as can be seen in the image below.

Microsoft icon designer Mike LaJoie explained how this move is about unifying Start Menu visually

“The idea is to visually unify the Start menu, from a somewhat chaotic color, to something a bit more uniform.

Coming to Live Tiles rumor, Brandon LeBlanc, chief of the Windows Insider program confirmed, “Those with Live Tiles will still be able to use them,”. Which ultimately means that it will become a feature that can be enabled by user if he wants.
