Microsoft’s efforts in gaming are unlike its mobile counterpart is well thought out and are working great so far. The company now has all the stuff on the back end to climb the ladder and hit Gold. What needs to be understood here is that Microsoft’s efforts in Gaming is not restricted to Xbox One console, it is more than that!
“We see Microsoft building out the ‘Netflix of Gaming,'” Morgan Stanley analyst Keith Weiss wrote in a note out to clients. “We think that gaming has historically been largely ignored, misunderstood, and undervalued by analysts and investors.”
The analyst is emphasising Microsoft’s cloud effort which actually acts as a catalyst in uplifting Microsoft’s Gaming Business to a record high. Microsoft Azure has finally become The Thing in achieving the goal- Streaming, broadcasting and MR.
“Azure is a key differentiator for Microsoft in the technology required to achieve streaming,” Weiss said, adding that it “allows for developers to scale and customize gaming infrastructure on a reliable cloud.”
Xbox Game Pass also have a key role to play here which is a subscription plan cost $9.99 per month. The subscription is just a plan to bring more and more PC gamers into Microsoft’s gaming ecosystem.
“Over the next 3-5 years we expect Microsoft to extend the reach of Game Pass from the console and PCs, to eventually cover mobile devices – greatly expanding the potential base for monetization,” he said.
We expect Microsoft to talk more regarding its effort at E3 which is all set to take place tomorrow.
