Microsoft has given up on the EdgeHTML-based classic Microsoft Edge, the browser that comes default Windows 10. Instead, the software giant has developed a new, modern Chromium Edge browser, which is based on Chromium.
And now that Edge browser is going to be powered by Chromium, it’s going to be as fast as the Google Chrome browser or any other Chromium-based browser for that matter. However, since this is a Microsoft-made browser, there will be some services that Microsoft will want consumers to use.
And one of the services that Microsoft always push is the engine Bing, which is miles behind Google Chrome. Although Bing has its strength, it comes nowhere close to Google when it comes to providing quality and relevant search result. Things are a lot worse if you’re not in the USA.
Fortunately, there’s a method, following which you will be able to change your default search engine from Microsoft Edge to Google or any of your favorite.
How to change the default search in Chromium Edge and switch to Google
- Open Microsoft Edge
- Click on the three-dot view(…) at the top right corner
- Click on Settings
- Click on Privacy and Services
- Scroll through the page and you’ll see Address bar option. Click on it
- Click on the rectangular box on the right side of the “Search engine used in the Address bar” option
- Switch to Google
