VLC player for Windows 8 failed again to cross the store certification hurdle and VLC team is going to resubmit it soon.
New version of VLC for WinRT will be submitted soon on the store! Will keep you posted…

They have also teased that HLSL shaders are coming to VLC app for Windows 8 / 8.1. For those wondering, HLSL is Microsoft developed shading language developed for use with the Microsoft Direct3D API. Though, VLC app for Windows RT will not have HLSL support as mentioned in one of the tweets above.
