Install error – 0x80070002 2023-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (kb5027231)

Hi,

for quite a long time I have a problem with installing cumulative updates.

I tried using Microsoft tools for this but they either don’t help at all or only once (the next similar update gives the same error).

Please help to solve this problem once and for all.

I would really hate to reinstall the OS or perform a full reset, because I have a software that I will have to buy again in this case.

Coming to details of the gaming performance deterioration issue, users reported about it on official Microsoft forum. One user mentions about facing the issue and not being able to even uninstall the update KB5027231.

Windows (Quality) Security Update (KB5027231) doesn’t uninstall

Hello there,

The most recent updates, which I installed on the 15th of June 2023, have drastically decreased my laptop’s performance whilst gaming (WoW specifically). I tried uninstalling the updates through the update history -> uninstall updates. Unfortunately, 1 of the 2 updates says “uninstalled”, but will reappear in the list every time.

I’ve read that not all updates can be uninstalled, but those were specified to Feature Updates, not Quality updates. I don’t see the use of this update if all it does is worsen my gaming performance, whilst I don’t see noticeable advantages for daily use like my study. Is there any other way through which I can uninstall this update? Or does someone know the issues that keeps me from uninstalling that specific update?

Specs/system information; if you need more, please let me know.

Windows 11, running on a Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3

Processor = AMD Ryzen 5 4600H with Radeon Graphics, 3000 Mhz, 6 Core, 12 Logical Processors

8GB RAM installed

GPU = Nvidia Geforce GTX 1650

Thanks in advance!

Another issue reported by users in the official Microsoft forum is about not being able to launch Google chrome after installing the update KB5027231.

Microsoft Windows (KB5027231) Update is preventing me from opening Google Chrome

There seems to be an issue with one of the latest Microsoft Security Updates,

Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB5027231)

Specifically:

1) My new Lenovo Computer, (with Windows 11), updated on 6/14/2023.

2) After my computer updated, I noticed that I could not open Google.

3) I knew that my computer Microsoft SW had just recently updated, so I uninstalled the latest Security Update.

4) After uninstalling the Update, I was then able to open Google.

5) Are there settings I can change so that I can open Google Chrome?

6) I wish to choose my own Internet Browser to use, and do not want Microsoft Windows 11 to determine that for me

Thanks for any helpful input on this.

Some users have also reported other issues too after installing the update KB5027231 on their Windows 11 PCs.

Is there a conflict between Microsoft 365 and the recent Windows 11 update 22621.1848?

PowerPoint and Word (Microsoft 365) crashing frequently today following recent Windows 11 update June 14, 2023. It suddenly starts using 30% CPU and is “not responding”. Tried quick repair twice, online repair twice. Just completed uninstalling and reinstalling Microsoft 365. What else can I do? Please help.
