If you are using Google Chrome Microsoft has some good news for you. The company has released an official Chrome extension that will enable you to access Chrome activities via Windows Timeline. The extension which goes by the name Web Activities basically mimics Microsoft Edge, allowing you to pick up where you left off on your Windows PC.
In a blog post, Microsoft also clarified that this feature was requested by quite a few Windows Insiders on the Feedback Hub app. And the recent development is merely a response to that.
Aside from that, there might be something bigger on the horizon. This move does seem that it would complement Microsoft’s recent effort to adopt Chromium engine in the Microsoft Edge. It’s also rumored that following the completion of the transition from EdgeHTML to Chromium Edge would be capable in running Chrome extensions like a pro and if that is in any sense comes out to be true, it would be interesting to see whether the company depends on the extension alone for the Timeline activities or let both the extension and current in-built Timeline feature exist side by side.
The team behind the development also made it clear that web activities will indeed work with Timeline on Android and for this to happen you would need to install Microsoft Launcher. Meanwhile, just go the Chrome web store, download and install the Web Activities extension and you are all set. But above everything, make sure you have a Microsoft Account.
